The Siberian larch is very homogeneous in appearance. The wood impresses with distinctive fine ageing , uniform color and fine structure.
This product is made out of domestic spruce wood and is characterized by its uniform and elegant surface texture. Due to its light and yet warm color, the wood has a particularly cozy effect on people.
A special steaming and drying process of the best European sawn timber produces wood with an antique look. In order not to change and weaken the wood fiber, the temperature must not exceed 100° C. Steamed wood has reduced expansion and shrinkage which increases the susceptibility of cracking.
Up to 200-year-old planks are sawn up and used as the top layer for our window scantlings. Characteristics typical of old wood, such as discoloration, cracks, worm-eaten areas, wooden dowels, knotholes, etc., are given special consideration as a grading criterion. With original reclaimed wood, each production is absolutely unique. The number and size of the cracks and knots, as well as the frequency of the typical old wood characteristics vary according to the availability of the raw material and underline the naturalness of this unique material.
The special character of this surface is fabricated by a natural wood protection mechanism, which is triggered by years of exposure to sunlight and outdoor weathering. Sunburned surfaces are harder and more resistant and give each window a distinctive touch.
Wild oak is not a wood species of its own, but rather refers to a particular kind of sorting oak wood. The natural brownish tone of colors in combination with the inimitable grain and many smaller knots give the wild oak an expressive and unique Charakter.
In order to emphasize the unique character of larch, we have deliberately worked with the difference of colors, the spirited grain and the knot structure of this fascinating type of wood.
